One week left, less do theeees!

With a week to go, the team is finishing up preparations for the final race of our 2011 season. Involved was our new driver, Willy, who invited us over to his shop (we were late, sorry!) to use his lift...
We got through the list of to-do's pretty quickly so while we were grilling out back, Willy helped us set up our suspension...which is slightly less HORRIBLY ASSYMETRICAL now thanks to his neat alignment tools. The photo below is us setting the toe slightly out, which means the fronts of the tires are pointed slightly out which helps in turn in response and through corner control. Street cars are generally set up with a neutral setup or slight toe in for straight line stability. Stability is for wussies, we can dial that out...all done.
Then the idea came across to weigh it, since he of course had some fancy scales he uses to set up his Spec Miatas. They were shiney.
2600lbs with driver surprised all of us, thats only a couple pounds more than one of these Miatas, hah! Sure our center of gravity is 3ft higher and our engine hangs off the front bumper but our weight distribution is still 60/40 which is again, better than we were expecting. See a trend here? Of course this means we need to add that weight back in a sweet ground effects kit! Its cardboard now but if the work is done quick enough the metal version should be ready for the race next week. Oh btw ITS NEXT WEEK OMG WTF BBQ!!
In the meantime, the pitmaster is working out the plans for the second box, which will be mounted right next to the exhaust manifold. Initial testing indicated the need for a full enclosure due to wind keeping temperatures disappointingly cool. Pictured below is the basic idea of v2.0, tomorrow work will continue we'll see how far we get. Ambitious? Perhaps. Rubbish? Well, we're ambitious. That counts for 6 LEMONS CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS!!! (that's right, somehow our epic 46th place finish was worth 6 championship points, if only we could convert these points into something useful like bitcoins or Charlie Sheen...)
